Sunny Summer Afternoon: A Photo Essay

Joining with Michelle DeRusha and her invitation to sit and savor summertime. It comes on Fridays and it’s delightful and refreshing. Check it out:
Sunshine today, almost all day long,
a refreshing change after many days of June Gloom.
So I took myself to the beach and then on a walk
around my yard,
and enjoyed the beauties of summer.
‘Tis the season for blue blooms in these parts,
blues of every hue,
with a little pink thrown in for good measure.
Honey bees,
humming birds,
lizards sunning themselves,
swallowtails,
even those with injured wings,
are among the beauties of today.
Join me, won’t you?
And offer thanks to God for the glories of summertime.

Gorgeous!  And you followed Mary Oliver’s Instructions for Living:  Pay attention.  Be Astonished.  Tell About it!  Good going!

  2. Having a major pang of ocean jealousy with that first shot! And I love the hummingbird and butterfly – God is AMAZING!

  3. pastordt says

Thanks, Nancy – and thanks for leaving a comment!

  4. pastordt says

Amen. It was one of those days of constant, “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

  5. Glenda Childers says

God is so creative and I love your creativity, too, Diana.

  6. pastordt says

Thank you, Glenda. Hope your weekend is lovely and restful.

  7. All that color, life…and water.

We have green things growing, and flowers in abundance. But no lizards. And no oceans.

So I shall live vicariously through your photos and words….

  8. You have your own beauties, Ann – you show them to us regularly. And I have a hunch you sort of create beauty wherever you are. :>)

  9. Thanks for this. Over the years,  Nebraska has grown on me – its expansive skies and amber waves of grain. But there’s no ocean here, and sometimes I’m not quite sure what to do about that. These photos make my day, Diana. Like a day trip to the beach. 🙂

Always glad to be of service. :>)
