31 Days of Giving Permission . . . TO SURRENDER

31 days of giving permission 200x130

If he, who has surrendered himself on our behalf
can be so very generous,
then we, too, must learn of surrender.
For it is, as St. Francis said so many years ago,
“in giving that we receive.”

Even as the trees surrender themselves
to the changing of the seasons,
to the dying that bright color signifies,
so we, too, are invited to come and die.

In the very best sense — we die to our sinful selves,
and live to Jesus Christ.

BLESSED SABBATH, FRIENDS.

“What shall we say about such wonderful things as these?
If God is for us, who can ever be against us?
Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all,
won’t he also give us everything else?
Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own?
No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself.”

-Romans 8:31-33, New Living Translation

  1. Left with a sense of relief and serenity – and only curiosity – is autumn so beautiful as this where you are?

    • No, Sue. These shots (and the ones for several of the posts in this series) are from our recent leaf-peeping driving tour of the New England states. We’d never done that before and were stunned by the beauty of it all — and the ephemeral nature of this kind of annual gorgeousness. It doesn’t last long, but it is glorious while it’s there!

  2. yes, what SHALL we say?

  3. So glad for you, that you got to see the autumn colors in their prime. So glad for us, that you’ve been sharing these scrumptious pics. So glad that through all this — the trees, Nature, autumn changes, and surrender in ourselves — God gets the glory!
